And then one day I woke up and realised I was back from China and had been for some time. Alas, my plans to do regular updates from the world’s most populous country failed in the face of the Chinese government’s internet meddling and a healthy dose of apathy. So here are some photos from my trip to China in April and May of this year, plus a link to a big album of them on Flickr. And then we can get back on with the cycling. Warm weather is just around the corner!
Great blog Bruce! Hope you are keeping well. You must drop my and say hello sometime. Mel
Hi Mel! Great to hear from you. Yes, I must come and visit – you are just up the road. I’ll try to tee up a time.
The photos are awesome! Still take a mean pic.
If the firewall came down, Chinese citizens might actually learn what kind of reputation they have when travelling abroad. On the other hand, they may learn that cycling with ski masks looks odd, and exposing the midriff on a hot day is best left to pretty women.
To be fair, they are starting to figure it out. There are both announcements and assistants on the train platforms advising people to maybe wait for the people to get off the train before trying to barge your way on. And I did see a few signs telling people not to let their children shit everywhere (such as in the aisle of aeroplanes). I was thinking about seeing if I could get the midriff thing to catch on in Perth this summer.
